Ranchi: Over 100 scientists from across the country will discuss the strategies of increasing farmers’ income at two-day national conference on ‘Doubling farmers’ income for sustainable & harmonious agriculture (DISHA-2019)’ being organized by Birsa Agricultural University on August 10-11.
BAU Vice-Chancellor Dr RS Kureel informed that the event is aimed at bringing together knowledge and expertise of scientists from agricultural universities, ICAR research institutes, other scientific bodies and industry for giving new speed and direction to innovation, development and growth in sustainable agriculture and addressing the practical challenges encountered in all respects of agriculture and horticulture by small and marginal farmers. Themes to be covered during the conference include breeding & biotechnological advances, innovation in micro-irrigation tools, horticultural interventions, innovation in disease & pest management, sustainable soil management, bridging the digital divide and deliberations in eNAM, e Mandi. In animal husbandry sector, issues like backyard poultry, pig and farming for income generation, health issues of wildlife, prospects of indigenous technical knowledge in animal healthcare & management, sustainable fish production, water quality and fish disease, value addition and byproducts of fish will be covered.
